In 2009 Portmarnock was voted as the number one course in Ireland”

Portmarnock is the fairest links I have ever played, which is unusual because links golf by its very nature can be unfair. It is almost perfectly balanced in that it is both challenging and demanding for every level of golfer.....as stern an exam as a professional could wish for from the back tees, and an equally strict test for the more modest player off the medal tees.”
-- Padraig Harrington, 3 Time Major Winner
We couldn’t have asked for a warmer welcome or a more pleasant stay. And the golf course was a true joy! The rare combination of terrific golf and fantastic people make Portmarnock a very special place, more than worthy of all the honors and accolades. I look forward to returning at some point down the road. In the meantime, please pass along to everyone at Portmarnock my sincerest thanks for a wonderful experience I will always remember.”

Dear Mr. Quigley,
Thank you very much for the opportunity that you and the membership of Portmarnock Golf Club provided to me and my golfing friend , Mr. G. Hale, to play your fine golf course. We recently played Portmarnock on July 13th
2012 and greatly enjoyed our day. It was a tremendous privilege to play the course and experience the hospitality of your club. Portmarnock is a fantastic golf course. The course is beautiful, very challenging, and fair. You certainly deserve to host many more important golf tournaments.
I will certainly recommend to anyone travelling to Ireland to make Portmarnock Golf Club a preferred stop. I hope to make it back to Portmarnock to play your excellent golf course again.”

The golf course was fantastic. Truly a great links course experience. This is what golfing in Ireland is all about”

I just wanted to drop you a line to thank you for accommodating us last Friday at Portmarnock.
The course was in phenomenally good condition and we had a day that will live long in the memory.
You hear a lot about micro-climates but in this case there really was something unusual going on because the forecast was awful yet we managed to play 27 holes – one loop of each nine – before the rain started!
I guess the biggest surprise to us was the quality of the Yellow nine, which I'd never played before. It is absolutely top class.”

Jeff: Thanks very much. We are back in Miami but looking forward to a return visit to Portmarnock. I wanted to let you know that I was very appreciative of the warm welcome from everyone at your great club. As I'm sure you know there's a big part of Ireland in America, and we always hear how friendly the Irish are to visitors, but it's great to experience first-hand.”
