Francis has been the Head Professional at Portmarnock Golf Club since November 2016.

Francis is a very accomplished golfer having competed on both the European Tour & Challenge Tour from 1996 – 2001.

Highlights - Qualifying for 1998 Open Championship in Royal Birkdale

Lowest Round - 64, Turespana Masters, El Saler, Spain

After finishing with tour life, Francis became the Head Professional at Ballyliffin Golf Club where he spent two and a half years before moving to Carton House, where he later became Director of Golf. During Francis’s time at Carton he oversaw 3 Irish Opens, 1 Seniors Open and the European Amateur Team Championships.

Since moving to Portmarnock Francis’s main focus is on coaching club teams, developing junior golf, teaching, playing casual golf with the members and managing the busy Professionals Shop at Portmarnock.

Francis and his team pride themselves on excellent customer service and really enjoy welcoming and interacting with members and visitors.

Cian joined the team in April 2022. He came from Ashbourne golf club where he spent 2 years as an assistant. He was involved in developing a highly successful junior coaching program with both club and local schools. He turned pro in August 2021. Cian grew up in Trim Co.Meath and was a member in Co. Meath golf club from a young age competing in amateur events and represented the club in different inter club events.

David joined the Professional Staff in January 2025. He is from New Jersey and spent four years working at Liberty Nation Golf Club. While working there he completed his PGA Associate program and became a PGA Golf Professional at the end of 2022. He has developed a strong background in Operation Management. Coached the LNGC PGA Junior League Team and taught golfers of all skill levels. David has been a great addition to the team and well liked by all the members and guests.

The newest member of Professional Staff in Portmarnock Golf Club. Originally from County Offaly, Kieran Clancy turned professional off a +2 handicap in 2023. A proud former member of Birr Golf Club, he represented the club in numerous local and provincial events. He was heavily involved in the team coaching in Tullamore Golf Club where he previously trained, which resulted in a number of victories for the club. Kieran is currently in his third year in the PGA program.
